The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA Peru), with support from volunteers from the Seventh-day Adventist Church, has successfully rescued 1,000 tons of essential food products through its Food Bank. This initiative benefits social organizations in the Lima and Arequipa regions, primarily supporting soup kitchens.

Soup kitchens are community spaces where families living in poverty come together to prepare food and share it among themselves. This collaborative effort ensures that community members, especially those in need, can access a daily meal.

Since the beginning of 2023, ADRA has been actively engaged in altruistic campaigns aimed at combating hunger and malnutrition in Peru. Currently, the humanitarian agency of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is part of the Peruvian Network of Food Banks. This participation allows ADRA Peru to contribute to reducing poverty and malnutrition levels, supporting the goals of sustainable development, as reported by Dr. Javier Espejo, the program manager of the agency in the country.

Engineer Jhony Saavedra, the coordinator of the ADRA Peru Food Bank, has stated that "coordinations have been established to rescue food from various wholesale markets, with the support of Adventist volunteers."
